Friedrichshafen FF.29
History
The Friedrichshafen FF.29 was designed as a light weight biplane on floats. IT was equipped with a Mercedes D.II engine and succeeded the pre war FF-19.
44 Examples were built.
First examples entered operational service in November 1914. It was used for patrols along the coast and also for reconnaissance duties. It was possible to carry a small bomb load.
Noteworthy is the fact that a FF.29 was the first aircraft to be launched from a submarine.
The FF.29A was a version with improved floats and tail.

November 21, 1915 a Friedrichshafen FF.29 was interned near Schiermonnikoog and entered service as S-1. It was an unarmed scout trainer.
Due to an emergency landing it was damaged and withdrawn from use in September 1917. The engine was later used for the Friedrichshafen FF-19.
