On Monday 30 April 2018, Wilko Jonker died after a long illness at the age of 58. He leaves behind a wife and two children. The Dutch military aviation and plastic modeling were his hobby and on this website he shared all the knowledge he has collected over the years. His hobby has been able to distract him from the persistent disease in his body until the last week of his life. The contacts with other hobbyists were a major support for him.

This website will be maintained by different people for as long as possible, so that other enthusiasts can continue to benefit from extensive content.

Friedrichshafen FF.33

History

At the end 0f 1914 this type was developed from the FF.29, which was considered to be too lightly armed.

The FF.33 was mainly used for patrol and escort duties.

FF.33:
The original version equipped with a Mercedes D.II engine; Six examples built.
FF.33B:
Version in which pilot and observer were reversely seated. The observer had a machine gun available. Equipped with a 160 hp Maybach. Five examples built
FF.33E:
Main production version, 180 examples built. Equipped with a Benz B.III engine; enlarged floats, the float under the tail was omitted; equipped with radio.
FF.33F:
Fighter-Reconnaissance version with smaller wingspan and fuselage. Five examples were built.
FF.33H:
Aerodynamic improved version of FF.33F; duplicated cabling for steering etcetera. Fifty examples were built.
FF.33J:
Aerodynamic improved version of the FF.33E; equipped with a radio transmitter/receiver.
FF.33L:
Main production version of the fighter reconnaissance version. Improved aerodynamics; one fixed machine gun. 130 examples were built.
FF.33S:
Trainer version with double steering.
