History

The Friedrichshafen FF.49 was developed in 1917 from the Friedrichshafen FF.39, which was a development of the FF.33e.

Versions.

FF.39:
A refined version of the FF.33e with 200 hp Benz Bz.IV engine. Fourteen examples built.
FF.49:
two seat scout with 200 hp Benz Bz.IV.
FF.49c:
An improved FF.39 with structural enforcements, balanced rudders, radio transmitter/receiver and a machine gun for the observer. Over 200 examples built.
FF.49b:
Bomber version, pilot and observer seated reversely, no machine gun for observer and possibility for bomb-load. Fifteen examples built.
