History

The Sopwith Baby, type designation Admiralty Type 8200, was derived from the two seat Sopwith Schneider. This was a race aircraft, which won the Schneider Trophy, just before the war.

Just in January 1915 a first order was received for the Sopwith Baby, which differed very little from the Sopwith Schneider. main difference was the engine used.

Later improved versions were built, mainly by Blackburn Aircraft.
A modified version, the Hamble Baby was built by Fairey and Parnall.

in the end Sopwith built 100 examples and Blackburn built 186 examples.
