In Memoriam

Klaas Willem Jonker
(Wilko)
† April 30, 2018

On Monday 30 April 2018, Wilko Jonker died after a long illness at the age of 58. He leaves behind a wife and two children. The Dutch military aviation and plastic modeling were his hobby and on this website he shared all the knowledge he has collected over the years. His hobby has been able to distract him from the persistent disease in his body until the last week of his life. The contacts with other hobbyists were a major support for him.

This website will be maintained by different people for as long as possible, so that other enthusiasts can continue to benefit from extensive content.

General Dynamics F-16A solo display teams

General-Dynamics F-16A Block 15: Display 1995 - 1996 J-001, J003 en J-508.

During 1995 and 1996 the flying display was done by 306 squadron at Volkel Air Base.
There were two aircraft, J-003 and J-001 equipped with coloured stickers (then a novelty) applied on the vertical tail. However the stickers on the tail caused problems at high speeds, so it was finally decided to provide a sprayed colour scheme on F-16A J-508.

Also performed a flame-out during a training flight, a problem that frequently occurred in the PW-200 engine, with which it was equipped. F-16A J-508 had already the newer PW-220 engine, where the cause of the flame-outs was resolved.

The display pilot was Captain Richard Kamperman.
