In Memoriam

Klaas Willem Jonker
(Wilko)
† April 30, 2018

On Monday 30 April 2018, Wilko Jonker died after a long illness at the age of 58. He leaves behind a wife and two children. The Dutch military aviation and plastic modeling were his hobby and on this website he shared all the knowledge he has collected over the years. His hobby has been able to distract him from the persistent disease in his body until the last week of his life. The contacts with other hobbyists were a major support for him.

This website will be maintained by different people for as long as possible, so that other enthusiasts can continue to benefit from extensive content.

AeroBats.

In 1953 the display team The Aerobats of squadron 860, appeared rather unexpectedly at a NATO air show, held at Air base Soesterberg in June 1953.
The leader of the team was squadron leader LtZV1 R. J. Idzerda.
In August 1953 the team occupied the national Formation and Stunt competition of the KNVvL (Koninklijke Nederlandse Vereniging voor de Luchtvaart = Royal Netherlands Association for Aviation), where it was able to obtain the second prize.

Paint scheme and serials.

The team consisted of four aircraft plus one spare. The aircraft had the standard paint scheme applied to the Seafury at that time. The spinner and cowling was sprayed in the orange colour of squadron 860. On the cowling "860" was applied in black stencil lettering.

Of course further information is welcome via my contactform.
