The, in 1913 established Luchtvaarafdeeling, LVA, (aviation department of the Dutch Army) hired the Brik from Van Meel for testing. Later this aircraft was bought and became the first aircraft of the LVA.
In 1914 a second Brik was bought, which was taken over in June 1914 . This type was an enlarged version of the first Brik.

The first aircraft built by Van Meel and use for testing during 1912 by the military.
