History

The CL.IV was designed as successor of the CL.II, an effective ground support aircraft. The design was specially focused on this task.
The CL.IV had a shorter, strengthened fuselage and an enlarged horizontal tail. These modifications gave the aircraft an improved manoeuvrability compared with the CL.II.
450 examples were built by Halberstadt and LFG (Roland) built another 250 examples.
