In service with RNlNAS and NEIAF.

The Ryan STM was used as primary trainer by the RnlNAS with and without floats at Perak and Morokrembangan.

36 Ryans were transported by ship to Australia and arrived on March 10, 1942 in Sydney.

Initially, it was intended to establish a flying school in Australia. The flying schools of the RNlNAS and the NEIAF were evacuated to Australia.

As the RNlMFS (Royal Netherlands Military Flying School) at Jackson, Mississippi was founded in June 1942 the training in Australia was lapsed and the Ryans were sold to the RAAF.

By lingering over whether or not to evacuate the Ryans of the NEIAF all remaining Ryans of the NEIAF fell into Japanese hands after the capitulation. [I used the capitulation date as date of out of service for all NEIAF-Ryans.]
