On Monday, April 30, 2018, Wilko Jonker passed away after a long illness at the age of 58. He leaves behind a wife and two children. The Dutch military aviation and plastic model building were his hobby and on this website he has shared all the knowledge he has gathered about it over the many years. His hobby was able to distract him from the raging disease in his body until the last week of his life. The contacts with other hobbyists were a major support for him.

Fokker G.I Wasp

The Fokker G.I Wasps were initially built for Spain en sprayed in overall Spanish Green. As the Spanish civil war ended before these aircraft were delivered, the aircraft were kept in store at the Fokker factory.

In December 1939, six examples were already test flown and it was decided the LVA would take over the full Spanish order.
Some modifications, such as Dutch inscriptions and some of the equipment, had to be made before these aircraft could be used in Dutch service.

It was decided to use the original Spanish green camouflage as a base and spray this over with a pattern of LVA beige and brown.

After some research for the armament to be used, it was decided to equip these Fokkers with four M.36 machine-guns in the nose.

In January 1940 the first one, registered 341 was delivered to the LVA. later the same month Fokker G.Is 345, 348, 349 and 355 were delivered.

In February 1940 Fokker G.Is 345 and 354 were delivered. All were unarmed and used for training.
